HISTORY

History

University of Houston Cougars Athletic Alliance (UHCAA) began in 2003 as a vision of former athletes joining to strengthen and enhance the relationship between alumni and students with an emphasis on the student-athlete. Chartered in the spring of 2004 as a Houston Alumni Organization constituent association, UHCAA has distinguished itself by supporting various Cougar athletic programs and initiatives, providing tailgates for home football games, maintaining significant block seating, and hosting events supporting athletics.

In addition to attending sports events and tailgating, UHCAA has established an active presence in the university by participating in such programs as Tier I, Cougar Advocates Across Texas, serving on the Alumni Council and the board of UHAA.

UHCAA's commitment to the community is evidenced by our participation in the university's past HAO Operation School Supplies, our “Step Up To The Plate” Thanksgiving Food Drive, and our Christmas Toy Drive benefiting The House of Tiny Treasures, an early childhood development center serving homeless children and their families.

UHCAA also holds its Annual Golf Tournament which allowed us to contribute $185,000 in scholarships, including restricted funds, to both UH athletics and academics since 2008.

UHCAA is a Houston Alumni Association four-time Red Banner Award winner, three-time Gold Banner Award recipient and a Homecoming Spirit Challenge Winner.University of Houston Cougars Athletic Alliance is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization and an auxiliary enterprise of the University of Houston, a state supported institution.
